Travel with Lindsey Stone

Welcome to my travel website! Throughout my life, I have been incredibly lucky to have been able to visit many cities throughout the United States and Canada. I’ve also traveled to three incredible countries in Europe. Through this website, I hope to not only share stories from my own travels, but also to offer sightseeing suggestions, travel tips, and other useful information to anyone thinking about taking a vacation.

Growing up, I had many opportunities to travel around the U.S. with my dad on his business trips. I’ve spent time in almost every region of the continental U.S., including both the East and West Coasts, as well as the Midwest and the South. Some of the cities I’ve visited include San Antonio, Baltimore, Tampa, Minneapolis, Denver, and Las Vegas. I’ve also been to Canada—we visited Vancouver and Toronto.

In addition to visiting urban areas, I really enjoy getting away from it all on relaxing, outdoorsy trips to Maine and New Hampshire. Recently, I took a trip to Oregon to see my best friend from high school, and Portland was one of the most beautiful cities I’ve seen. It had such a unique vibe—alive, fun, and weird —that I won’t ever forget it. In fact, out of all the cities I’ve been to, Portland is the one in which I can actually imagine living.

Beyond North America, I’ve been to Ireland, Portugal, and Spain. During my trip to Ireland, my friend and I saw a bunch of amazing sights on our bus tour of the southern part of the country. The tour, which started in Bunratty and looped around to Galway, brought us to the Cliffs of Moher and the Blarney Stone (which we kissed!). We also toured the Waterford Crystal Factory and participated in a tasting at the Jameson distillery.

In 2012, I traveled to Portugal and Spain with a friend and her family, and the experience turned out to be one of the most incredible of my life. On this trip, we skipped the tour and planned our own sightseeing excursions in Lisbon, Sintra, Madrid, and Barcelona. We saw mind-blowing cathedrals, palaces, and the ruins of a castle. And, of course, one of the best things about this particular trip was the food—Spanish tapas are amazing, especially patatas bravas.

In the future, I intend to do a lot more traveling, both in the U.S. and abroad. Chicago and St. Louis are both on my list of U.S. cities I’d love to visit someday, and I’d also like to return to Las Vegas. Right now, I’d say my dream trip would be to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. The natural beauty there is absolutely breathtaking, even just in pictures, and I’d love to see it in person.

As far as international travel goes, I’d love to find my way back to Europe to see France. Visiting Sweden to explore my heritage would also be really exciting. And it would be fantastic to broaden my horizons a bit by traveling to Egypt, Japan, and Australia someday, as well.
